TIME TO GO!

Four actors become hapless adventurers on an epic, entirely improvised quest.

After a triumphant debut at the 2025 Camden Fringe Festival, Merely Players are back and bringing their unique brand of dice-fuelled, puzzle-solving theatre to the Canal Café Theatre this September.

Time To Go! Invites audiences into a one-of-a-kind live performance where Dungeons & Dragons collides with improvised theatre. Devised and directed by Max Aspen and performed by a dynamic cast of actor-adventurers, this live show transforms dice rolls into destiny and problem solving into performance.

Born in a pub down the road from drama school — where six actors traded Shakespeare for spell slots — Merely Players formed through candlelit nights of storytelling, improv, and chaotic creativity. What began as weekend sessions among friends has evolved into a full-fledged performance collective, blending the drama of the stage with the unpredictability of the tabletop and the stakes of completing game-show like trials and tasks.

Each live show is a standalone, unscripted adventure — a 50-minute race against time to save reality, filled with laughter, high-stakes decisions, and provoking puzzles. Using the Dungeons & Dragons 5e system, Time To Go! is not just a game — it’s a theatre of shared imagination, crafted in real time by a cast committed to truth, chaos, and the sheer joy of the moment.
